The Fourth Plinth Programme is one of the most talked about contemporary art prize in the UK. Funded by the Mayor of London, the competition invites artists to design their own plinth to go in Trafalgar Square. Here are some of year 4's designs. Many children also made their design into 3D models.
As well as learning about safe and responsible use of the internet, as part of Safer Internet Day 2016 the children in 3SB have spent time contemplating the world without it. What would we do? How would we spent our time? Would it be the end of the world as we know it?
'If the internet was turned off I would be happy; we would get to have more free time and use our imagination. We have all got a good imagination, it's time to start using it more! Although turning off the internet would have a great impact on the world, think of the things we could do e.g. make up new games. My Nan used to have no internet and she had fun, so why can't we? It wouldn't kill us if we didn't have the internet.' Lilly- Rose
In dance lessons, Year 3 have been creating different journeys. Our first journey was climbing up a hill. When we got to the top of the hill we scanned the area by looking around and down. When the music changed we turned around and went back down the hill rapidly. Our second journey took us across the sea. We were learning to transfer our weight from one part of our body to another. This was to represent us rocking inside a boat. When the music changed we started to transfer our weight more frantically. Lastly, our journey took us into... SPACE! We learnt how to make our bodies streamlined like a real rocket. Everyone in the group worked together to create an explosion in all directions.
We hope you enjoy watching our journeys through dance.
Earlier this week, Year 4 explored the colours, tastes, sights and sounds of India. The day began with our pupils cooking traditional Indian food. Chopped vegetables were mixed together, fragrant curry paste was added and tasty samosas took shape. The wonderful smell of the delicious food baking wafted through the school corridors making tummies rumble. Later, Year 4 imagined strolling through the Indian jungle and taking a trip on the school bus in Adivasi (in the Nigiri district of south India). During the walk, the children were on the lookout for wild animals, especially elephants! Our pupils then enjoyed playing some traditional Indian games - including Chess, Pachisi, Jacks and Marbles - and making Indian arts and crafts. The day came to an energetic end with a very enjoyable Bollywood dance workshop. Year 4 had a fantastic time experiencing the colourful culture and customs of India.
