Year 4 Objectives W/C 27.06.16

Literacy

In Year 4 this week, we will be learning:


  • to be able to write in role to another character in the story
  • I can select vocabulary to compare characters











Mathematics


In Year 4 this week, we will be learning:

  • To translate shapes in a co-ordinate grid.
  • To draw symmetrical shapes.
  • To choose the correct operation to answer a word problem.

Year 3 Weekly Objectives W.C 20.6.16

Literacy

In Year 3 this week, we will be learning:

  • To identify the features and language used in commentaries.
  • To write an exciting commentary to describe an event.
  • To use expression when commentating.




Mathematics

In Year 3 this week, we will be learning:

  • To identify horizontal and vertical lines of symmetry in 2D shapes.
  • To identify angles that are smaller than a right angle, larger and right angles.
  • To identify parallel and perpendicular lines.



Year 4 Objectives W/C 20.6.16

Literacy

In Year 4 this week, we will be learning:


  •  I can read between the lines and understands what the characters really think.
  • To discuss a turning point in a novel





Mathematics


In Year 4 this week, we will be learning:

  • To find fractions of amounts. 
  • To solve problems involving fractions. 
  • To add fractions with different denominators.

4JW's Special Guests

This week in show and tell, we had two very special guests! One member of our class (with the help of his mum) brought in his adorable and very small Netherlands dwarf rabbits for us to see. The class had lots of interesting questions and enjoyed stroking the baby animals.

Year 3 Weekly Objectives W.C. 13.6.16

Literacy

In Year 3 this week, we will be learning:

  • To create imagery in the style of a given poem.
  • To create a riddle poem.




Mathematics

In Year 3 this week, we will be learning:

  • To draw lines of given lengths and identify given lengths using a ruler (cm, mm).
  • To read different scales of mass (g, kg).
  • To identify amounts of capacity through different scales (ml, L).

Literacy

In Year 3 this week, we will be learning:

  • To create imagery through understanding and using the following:
         - Adjectives, adverbs, similes, metaphors and personification.
  • To solve riddles.


Mathematics

In Year 3 this week, we will be learning:

  • To use the column method to add amounts of money and then subtract them from amounts such as £5.00, £10.00 and £20.00 to work out change.
  • To tell the time to 5 minute and 1 minute intervals.
  • To tell the time using the 12-hour digital clock and 24-hour clock.

  • to be able to a letter of advice using varied sentences.
  • to understand a character’s inner feelings and motivations using evidence in a text.

Mathematics

In Year 4 this week, we will be learning:

  • To be able to solve problems involving co-ordinates
  • To multiply and divide using formal written method

Viking Day 7/6/16



Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed a range of activities based on the Vikings. They spent the morning playing a Viking board game, completing a quiz by finding clues around the classroom and they listened to many stories explaining how and where the Vikings travelled from and to. In the afternoon, they learnt about Viking weapons and battles. They even had a mini battle and learnt how to effectively use a 'shield wall'- a form of protection. The children also witnessed weapons being used to slice a melon in two which greatly amused the children whilst creating a mess on the floor.

Literacy

In Year 4 this week, we will be learning:

  • To be able to deduce information about characters.
  • To write in role as a character inferring their thoughts and feelings.

Mathematics

In Year 4 this week, we will be learning:

  • To solve problems using negative numbers.
  • To round any number to the nearest 10, 100, 1000 or whole number.
  • To add and subtract numbers with decimals using formal written methods.
