3KV first of all had a look at a range of different blurbs in order to identify the features of blurbs.
This is what we came up with...
- Introduces the main character of the story.
- Tells us some background information of the text.
- Explains the main problem of the story.
- Exciting verbs!
- Includes a rhetorical question to get the reader of the blurb thinking.
- Includes an ellipses to build suspense and make the reader want to read the book.
We then had a go at writing our very own blurb for Michael Morpurgo's engaging story which we thoroughly enjoyed.
How many features can you find in these children's blurbs? Did they use any exciting vocabulary?
