Year 3 were provided with a range of activities, including one that tested their ability to work as a team. They were set the difficult challenge of working in groups to construct a Celtic Round House, in addition to putting together a Roman Villa!
Later, they were taken down 21 steps and learnt more about how the Romans invaded and succeeded the Celts. The children even had the chance to split up into Celts and Romans and reenact the vicious attack!
We had lots of free time to explore the museum and dress up as important Romans, including trying on heavy armour and helmets but also the famous golden neck torc!
Finally, we had time to explore the gift shop where children purchased interesting stationary for the coach journey home with many children choosing to use the equipment to practise their numeracy skills such as the column method and grid method!
What a productive day!
